Aldi have launched their Christmas advert for 2019 which stars their Christmas ad regular Kevin the Carrot. The commercial begins with Kevin tied to a cheese grater by new character ‘Russell Sprout’ and his angry Brummy mob of “Leafy Blinders”.
The gang are furious that Kevin and his family of carrots are stealing the show as a popular vegetable over the festive season. Russell Sprout throws a tomato at him in rage. The little tomato is Tiny Tom who comes to Kevin’s rescue by eating through the rope to let him free. The pair then escape in to a tent which has a giant table of food laid out.
Kevin then performs a new version of Robbie Williams’ Let Me Entertain You, with altered lyrics
“Sprouts are gone and Kevin’s here. Shower me with festive cheer. Bring those mince pies over here… with cream.”
The discount food store has decided to pay homage to the highly successful British crime drama television series Peaky Blinders with this theme. We think this ad is going to prove quite a hit this year!
