This new Christmas 2019 Marks & Spencer advert titled ‘Go Jumpers For Christmas’ features a cast of dancers who’s Christmas jumpers appear to be controlling them.
The ad begins with a woman who is admiring her Christmas decorations when she turns and looks at her Christmas jumper on the table. The jumper begins to move as music plays. She puts the jumper on and seems to be controlled by her Christmas jumper which makes her move. The commercial then shows other people who are all wearing festive jumpers appearing to perform a signature ‘shoulder-roll’ move to the 1992 classic song “Jump Around”. The ad continues by showing families, school children, friends in a car and a group of office workers performing all manor of dance moves to the song. M&S may be attempting to create a dancing trend this year as they use the hashtag #gojumpers.

The music in the Marks & Spencer Christmas 2019 advert is the 1992 classic Hip Hop song “Jump Around” by American trio House of Pain. The song reached number 3 in the US Billboard Hot 100. Despite eventually becoming a club classic, in the UK the song became a minor hit. A 1993 re-release of the song in the UK peaked at number 8. The track is available on iTunes and Amazon Music.
