This new Heineken advert titled ‘We’ll Meet Again’ set to Vera Lynn’s famous war-time hit prepares us for a post-pandemic world.
The commercial begins with various individuals who appear to be preparing for a big night out. However, it transpires that each of them are actually about to carry out normal day-to-day domestic activities. Whether it be going to the supermarket to washing clothes, the actors and actresses appear to be excited to prepare for the job. The advert concludes with the tagline “Nightlife lives on”.
This ad follows a similar commercial by Heineken last summer as bars and restaurants began to reopen across the UK after the first lock-down.
The song in the 2021 Heineken advert
Music: We’ll Meet Again | Artist : Vera Lynn
The music in the 2021 Heineken advert is a song called ‘We’ll Meet Again’ released in 1939 and performed by British singer Vera Lynn. The song was published by Michael Ross Limited, whose directors included Louis Carris, Ross Parker and Norman Keen.
The song gave its name to the 1943 musical film ‘We’ll Meet Again’ in which Lynn played the lead role. A re-recording of the song in 1953 featured more instrumentation and a chorus of British Armed Forces personnel.
In 2020, a charity duet with Katherine Jenkins and Dame Vera Lynn was released with proceeds going to NHS charities during the Coronavirus pandemic. This was also performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the 70th anniversary of D-Day commemoration ceremony
