Lego have released their 2021 festive campaign with this advert titled “Rebuild the world!” The ad shows children bringing people together via their play with Lego.
The commercial begins with a girl playing with her Lego helicopter while a real life helicopter hovers overhead. A woman jumps out of the helicopter in to a wooded area where she is chased by Stormtroopers.
We see a boy playing with his star wars ships as they also hover above his head. We see other examples of children’s imagination coming to life including a fire-fighting dragon and giant bees chasing the Stormtroopers.
The advert concludes with a Lego rocket launching in to space and the tagline “Rebuild the world” is on screen.

The music in the 2021 Lego advert is a cover version of the 1968 hit song “Build Me Up Buttercup” recorded by British soul band The Foundations. The song reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart and number 3 in the US Billboard Hot 100.
The song enjoyed a revival in 1998 when it featured in the comedy film There’s Something About Mary.
The version in this advert with adapted lyrics was recorded for the Lego campaign and is not commercially available .
