In the commercial we see a mother preparing a packed lunch for her daughter as she tries to slip in a ‘Choco cake bar’. The mother “swipes” the lunchbox with her hand to transform the bar in to a more healthy option.
The ad continues to show similar situations where customers imitate the Food Scanner App. It provides a speedy scan of your families’ favourite foods which reveals a range of healthier swaps for next time your going shopping.
The boasts a “Good Choice” badge to help direct people to healthier food and drinks. This is in-line with the government’s dietary recommendations for salt, saturated fat and added sugar.

The music in the NHS Food Scanner App advert is the popular 90’s song “Place Your Hands” by English band Reef. Released in October 1996, it was the first single from the band’s second album ‘Glow’.
The song with a distinctive guitar and base intro reached number six on the UK Singles Chart and is still the band’s most successful single to date.
